More than 200 branded storefronts, and every price and stock level in sync with NetSuite.

Darter Specialties sells branded apparel and promotional products through a private online store for each customer. We consolidated a sprawl of Magento stores onto three instances and connected them to NetSuite in real time.

The complexity

Every customer gets its own store, its own logo and its own prices.

Darter Specialties makes custom embroidered and printed apparel and promotional products for business customers. Each customer orders from a private storefront with its own logo, product selection and pricing, and expects orders turned around in 24 to 72 hours.

By 2019 that meant close to 200 separate Magento storefronts, each maintained on its own. Orders, stock and prices ran through a desktop accounting system and manual steps, so every new customer added work.

Off-the-shelf multi-store tools assume a handful of stores with shared prices. Darter needed hundreds of private stores, each with its own catalog and pricing, all reading the same live inventory.

What we built

Hundreds of storefronts, three instances, one connection to NetSuite.

Darter moved from a desktop accounting system to NetSuite and kept Magento for its storefronts. We consolidated the stores and built the connection that keeps them in step with the ERP.

  1. NetSuite ERP · stock · pricing · orders · fulfillment
  2. two-way connector · real-time sync
  3. Magento 3 instances · 200+ private storefronts

Also connected:

  • Supplier feeds · live stock
  • AWS · managed hosting
  • WordPress · marketing site (2023)

A new store without a new build

Each customer storefront gets its logo, product selection and prices through automated imports, so adding a customer is setup work, not a development project.

Live stock and prices in every store

Stock, pricing, product and order data sync both ways with NetSuite in real time. Supplier feeds keep stock accurate across every storefront.

Orders straight to fulfillment

Online orders flow into NetSuite, which creates packing slips and sends fulfillment notifications. Nobody re-keys an order between the store and production.

The consolidation

From stores maintained one by one to three instances.

A 2019 audit showed where the time was going. We moved the storefronts onto three Magento instances on AWS, connected them to NetSuite, and kept adding stores on the same foundation.

  1. Before

    Stores maintained one by one

Close to 200 Magento storefronts, a desktop accounting system and manual order steps.

  2. 2019

    Audit and plan

We reviewed the storefronts, the ERP and the order process, and set the plan.

  3. 2020

    Three instances on NetSuite

Storefronts consolidated onto three Magento instances, connected two-way to NetSuite.

  4. Today

    200+ storefronts and growing

New customer and franchise storefronts launch every month on the same setup.
