Case study · Systems integration

Four brands, nine catalogs, one NetSuite, and a different price for every buyer.

Contractor Nation’s dealers used to order by phone, email and printed price sheets. We built the ordering channel that replaced them, connected it to the ERP, and carried it through the move from Dynamics GP to NetSuite.

The complexity

Every dealer buys from a different price list.

Contractor Nation runs four dealer brands for home improvement contractors. Each brand has its own catalog, some catalogs are shared between brands, and every dealer has a negotiated price on every product.

Before the project, all of that lived in the ERP and in printed price sheets. Dealers phoned or emailed their orders. Customer service staff keyed them in by hand, checked prices and answered calls from dealers who wanted to know whether the price they’d been quoted was still right.

Off-the-shelf B2B storefronts handle a price per customer group. Contractor Nation needed a price per dealer, per product, across four brands, and it had to match the ERP every time.

What we built

One ordering channel, four storefronts, and the plumbing underneath.

Contractor Nation kept its ERP as the source of truth. We built the storefronts on top of it and the integration that keeps prices, catalogs and orders in step.

  1. NetSuite ERP · multiple subsidiaries · dealer pricing
  2. pricing, catalog and order sync
  3. Adobe Commerce 4 branded storefronts · 9 catalogs

Also connected to NetSuite:

  • RF-SMART · warehouse
  • Pacejet · shipping
  • Customer Portal · Dealer Support reports

Four brands on one platform

Each dealer brand has its own storefront, look and catalog, all running on one Adobe Commerce installation. Shared catalogs are maintained once and appear wherever they belong.

The right price for every dealer

When a dealer logs in, they see their own catalog at their own prices. Pricing comes straight from the ERP, so the storefront and the invoice always agree.

Orders that go straight to the ERP

Online orders land in NetSuite without anyone re-keying them. Customer service spends its time on dealers who need help, not on order entry.

NetSuite also runs warehouse scanning through RF-SMART and shipping through Pacejet, and both integrate with the same order flow. That work is a story of its own; a separate case study is on the way. Contractor Nation’s Dealer Support team also uses a Harris Digital Customer Portal to pull sales reports from NetSuite themselves, instead of waiting on Operations.

The NetSuite move

A new ERP underneath, the same ordering channel on top.

In 2024 Contractor Nation replaced Microsoft Dynamics GP with Oracle NetSuite. We rebuilt the integration so the storefronts kept the same catalogs and the same dealer prices on the new system.

  1. Before

    Phone, email and print

Orders keyed in by hand from calls, emails and printed price sheets.

  2. Launch

    Four storefronts on Dynamics GP

Dealer-specific catalogs and pricing go live. Adoption passes 90% in year one.

  3. 2024

    NetSuite go-live

Integration rebuilt for NetSuite’s multi-subsidiary setup, led by Harris Digital.

  4. Today

    95% of dealers online

90% of orders come through the storefronts, and phone orders are down 80%.

In their words

Harris Digital gave us a digital foundation that exceeded expectations. We hoped one dealer in ten would order online. Nearly all of them do, every dealer sees the right price, and when we moved to NetSuite, Harris Digital brought the whole ordering channel with us.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about projects like this

Answered with what happened at Contractor Nation.

Have a question about your own setup?
Let’s talk

Can an online ordering site show a different price for every dealer, straight from NetSuite?

Yes. Every Contractor Nation dealer sees its own negotiated price on every product, across four brand websites and 3,100 products. The prices come from NetSuite, so the ordering sites and the ERP always show the same number.

Can one NetSuite account run several brand websites?

Yes. Contractor Nation runs four brand storefronts with nine catalogs on one Adobe Commerce platform, all connected to a single NetSuite account. Each brand keeps its own site and catalog, and everything is managed in one place.

Do orders from the website go straight into NetSuite?

Yes. Dealer orders placed online flow into NetSuite without anyone re-keying them. At Contractor Nation, phone orders to customer service dropped by 80%.

Will dealers actually order online instead of calling?

They did at Contractor Nation. Leadership planned for one dealer in ten to order online in the first year. 95% of dealers now order online, and 90% of all orders come in through the websites.

What happens to our ordering site if we move from Dynamics GP to NetSuite?

The ordering site can stay while the ERP changes underneath it. When Contractor Nation replaced Dynamics GP with NetSuite in 2024, Harris Digital rebuilt the connection, and dealers kept ordering on the same sites.
