Case study · Systems integration

Three kinds of buyers, two platforms, and product data that never matched.

Madison Company sells custom industrial sensors to manufacturers and water monitoring products to contractors and homeowners. We moved two websites onto one platform, fed by a single source of product data and connected to the NetSuite and HubSpot systems they already ran.

The complexity

The same sensor, described three different ways.

Madison runs two lines of business. Custom industrial sensors are configured and quoted for manufacturers and industrial buyers. Water management products sell to contractors, distributors and homeowners, often online and at a set price.

Those products lived on two websites built on two platforms, Duda and SuiteCommerce. Product details were kept in several places with no single version, so a spec updated on one site could stay wrong on the other.

Each buyer type needed its own pricing, promotions and way of finding products. Marketing had no clear view of which campaigns turned into orders, because the website, the ERP and the CRM didn’t share data.

What we built

Product data at the center, every storefront fed from it.

NetSuite stayed the source of truth for pricing, inventory and orders. We added a product data system, rebuilt the websites on one platform, and connected everything so it stays in sync.

  1. Plytix PIM · specs, attributes, media
  2. multi-store build · real-time sync
  3. Magento Open Source · 2 storefronts · B2B, B2C, D2C

Also connected:

  • NetSuite · pricing, inventory, orders
  • HubSpot · leads and attribution

Product data managed once

Plytix holds every spec, attribute and image. Technical details for industrial buyers and product descriptions for homeowners come from the same record, so they always match.

A storefront for each buyer

One Magento Open Source platform runs both storefronts. Industrial buyers, contractors and homeowners each see the products, prices and navigation that fit how they buy.

Marketing that sees the order

HubSpot is connected to the storefronts and NetSuite, so leads, quotes and orders are tied together. Marketing can measure campaigns by buyer type.

The consolidation

Two websites became one platform, and a base to build on.

In 2024 both websites moved onto one Magento platform, with NetSuite and HubSpot staying in place. Because the product data and systems are now connected, the next step is a quoting tool built around how Madison sells custom sensors.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about projects like this

Answered with what happened at Madison Company.

Have a question about your own setup?
Let's talk

Can one website platform serve manufacturers, contractors and homeowners with different prices?

Yes. Madison Company runs two storefronts on one Magento Open Source platform. Industrial buyers, contractors and homeowners each see the products, prices and navigation that fit how they buy, from one catalog.

How do we keep product specs the same on every website?

Manage product data once, in a product information system, and publish it everywhere. Madison keeps every spec, attribute and image in Plytix, which feeds both storefronts, so the technical details for industrial buyers and the descriptions for homeowners come from the same record.

Can a Magento store work with NetSuite and HubSpot at the same time?

Yes. At Madison, NetSuite stays the source of truth for pricing, inventory and orders, and HubSpot is connected to the storefronts and NetSuite so leads, quotes and orders are tied together.

Can marketing see which campaigns turn into orders?

Yes, once the CRM, the website and the ERP share data. Madison’s marketing team can follow a campaign in HubSpot from the first visit to the order it produced, and measure results by buyer type.

Do we have to replace our ERP to move two websites onto one platform?

No. In 2024 Madison moved two websites, on Duda and SuiteCommerce, onto one Magento platform. NetSuite and HubSpot stayed in place and were connected to the new storefronts.
